Why choose Bamboo?
Bamboo Products are more durable than hardwoods.
When compared to various hardwood materials, bamboo rates harder than many of the hardest hardwoods, including Oak and Maple. Generally speaking, the relative hardness of bamboo is greater than that of typical woods.
Hardness is commonly measured through a test known as the Janka Ball Test. The test measures the force required to push a steel ball with a diameter of 11.28 millimeters (0.444 inches) into the wood to a depth of half the ball's diameter.
Green Comfort exclusively utilizes Mao Bamboo in the production of all Bamboo products. When tested, our Mao Bamboo received an overall hardness rating of 1450 placing them on par or better than most Native American Hardwoods. Even compared to other non-indigenous hardwood species Bamboo still compares favorably.
Reduce hardwood deforestation.
In addition to Bamboo's notable hardness and durability characteristics, Bamboo is also an environmentally friendly resource. Bamboo is a high resilient plant, which makes it a highly renewable resource. Harvesting does not deter further growth. After four years, the same forest can be used for another round of harvesting. In this way, the same forest stand may provide a perpetual source of Bamboo raw material.
Bamboo's renewable nature helps ensure a continual supply of the resource thus minimizing price fluctuation associated with many commodity products. Overall the abundant supply of bamboo helps make it an inexpensive alternative to traditional hardwood floors. Available in different styles and colors, bamboo floors are distinctive and attractive in any interior.
